VIC:Monash freeway closed

EDS: Reissuing, removing references to a collision



MELBOURNE, Dec 13 AAP - One of Melbourne's busiest freeways has been closed following
a truck accident.

Police say a semi-trailer struck a pylon on the Monash Freeway about midnight, scattering
debris and stopping all Tuesday morning peak-hour traffic until at least midday.

The driver was uninjured but the crash impacted a bridge support, and engineering work
is under way to confirm there's no structural damage.

A VicRoads spokeswoman says the freeway will remain closed between Blackburn Road at
Glen Waverley and Springvale Road at Mulgrave until the afternoon, although an exact time
has not yet been determined.

All outbound traffic is being diverted at Blackburn Road, while all city-bound traffic
is being diverted at Springvale Road.

Police and WorkSafe investigators remain at the scene while a massive clean-up continues.
