John McCrea, singer and guitarist with the rock band Cake, loves to bring us bad news.

In the recent song "Waiting," he says we'll never be satisfied by anything in life. In "Baskets on the Wall," he insists all relationships will collapse. And in "End of the Movie," he not only reminds you that you'll lose your hair and teeth, but states the only reason we don't all commit suicide right now is because we want to see what happens next.
