Vic: "Mad" man stabbed Chinese couple to death, court told

A Melbourne court has been told an Indonesian man who killed a Chinese couple .. was
insane when he stabbed them more than 20 times each in their suburban unit.

24-year-old ANDREW JEK KABO has pleaded NOT guilty in the Victorian Supreme Court to
murdering YUQING LI and his wife YING ZHAO .. both 31 .. who died of multiple stab wounds
on May 6 .. 2004.

A jury of seven men and five women must decide KABO'S guilt or innocence .. on the
grounds of mental impairment.

Crown prosecutor CLAIRE QUINN'S told the court KABO was a disturbed individual .. who
has a troubled history.

She says KABO stabbed Mr LI 25 times in the neck and upper body .. waited for his wife
to return home .. and then stabbed her 21 times.

The trial continues.
